Especially during the major sports events the majority rule applies. If you are in a village packed with Germans you may have to watch Germany playing rather than you home team. In most regions DSL is available if not you can buy a scratch card that gives you a certain amount of hours. A very good option is Forthnet. Internet access with them costs 20 Euro a month flat. Keep in mind you always pay the phone line on top. Hotels offer internet access but will charge you a lot more.
